Main duties of the job The post holder will work as part of the Gynaecology Nurse Practitioner team to support Gynaecology Outpatient Services ensuring the delivery of high quality and safe care to women attending the Early Pregnancy and Emergency Gynaecology Units as well as offering specialist inpatient support to Gynaecology patients receiving care in the ward setting. The post holder will take a key role in developing the Gynaecology Specialist Nursing service with the support of the Lead Nurse Practitioners and Clinical Nurse Specialists and the Clinical Service Manager and the Matron for Gynaecology. Work autonomously to provide and implement care for women in accordance with agreed policies and guidelines. Provide a holistic assessment of women attending the Gynaecology Outpatient Services. Take responsibility for making differential diagnosis within level of competence. Plan and provide specialist treatment in collaboration with others as appropriate Provide specialist advice and information to women and their families as well as to junior members of the nursing and medical staff. Person Specification Qualifications/Training Registered Nurse Willingness to undertake a recognised course of study Recognised teaching qualification Qualification in Early Pregnancy /Pelvic Ultrasound Non-Medical Prescriber Qualification in Gynaecology / Women's Health Qualification in Urodynamics Trained in Vaginal Pessary Management Experience Significant experience nursing patients within Gynaecology/Urology/ Midwifery Evidence of Continuous Learning and Personal Development Skills Able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care Ability to organise and prioritise workload Ability to work within a team and develop others Organised approach to work Demonstrates attention to detail Able to cope with distressing or Emotional circumstances Vaginal Examination Skills Counselling Skills Abdominal examination Sexual Health/Contraception Management of Voiding difficulties Management of Vaginal Prolapse Urodynamics Minor Procedures such as Manual Vacuum Aspiration Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
