We are looking for full time to support day-to-day communications work that helps us engage with the public and promote the Police and Crime Commissioner’s priorities. You’ll help develop our social media channels and following through creating and delivering innovative, interesting and engaging content like videos, carousels, images and infographics. You will ensure our website and communications are up-to-date, accurate and responsive, and you’ll work with the wider comms team to support campaigns and public messaging. You’ll play a key role in delivering the PCC’s public-facing communications. You’ll be part of a small but impactful team working to increase public confidence in policing, prevent crime and support victims. Core responsibilities Develop and deliver a media plan through various platforms, including social, digital and print channels. Create, edit and publish high quality, innovative content demonstrating the work and the impact of the PCC for people across Avon and Somerset. Join the PCC and the Deputy PCC (DPCC) on engagements to generate engaging and informative content. Monitor and manage online communities, engaging with followers where appropriate. Build relationships with local influencers and external partners to increase reach and reputation. Monitor, track, analyse and react to social media performance. Produce regular insights and recommendations for change as a consequence of this monitoring. The role of the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) is to be the voice of local people in policing and to hold the Chief Constable to account. The aim of all PCCs is to ensure the delivery of an effective and efficient police service within their force area. Functions delivered by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) will still be required under the new model however the specific arrangements of this transfer are in their infancy and yet to be defined.
