Position Computer Studies Lecturer Department & Location Academic/Bath Spa University partnership (BSU) Location: Birmingham (On-site) Salary & Contract £51,000 Full‑time, permanent (40 hours per week) Our Vision Changing lives through education. Role Overview We are currently seeking lecturers to teach across a range of undergraduate levels as part of our BSc (Hons) Computing programme. Flexibility is required to teach during weekdays, evenings and weekends. Please note this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. What You’ll Be Doing As a Lecturer in Computing at Global Banking School, you will deliver modules based around the three main themes of the programme: Technology, Software, and Data. You will develop and deliver comprehensive course materials that equip students with an understanding of database systems, internet technologies, data, cyber‑security, networking, and business information systems. You will undertake all aspects of learning, teaching and assessment of students and keep up to date with the latest developments in your field and student‑support practices. Responsibilities Plan, deliver and assess student work, ensuring that all learning outcomes are met Develop, update and improve course materials as appropriate Use a variety of learning and teaching methods and materials Actively engage in staff development activities, peer observations, meetings and other administrative duties Stay up‑to‑date with latest developments in your field and student‑support practices Work towards objectives for student attendance, continuation, completion, satisfaction and progression About You Hold a master’s degree in a relevant subject (PhD desirable) Previous UK HE lecturing experience in the wider subject area Demonstrate extensive knowledge of two or more of the following: programming and software development, web development, database systems, cloud computing, networking, cybersecurity, IoT and emerging technologies, business IT systems, IT management, AI and machine learning, operating systems, UI/UX Experience supervising student work and providing feedback Accurate reporting and ability to maintain thorough and organised student records Ability to work under pressure, plan and prioritise workload to meet tight deadlines Excellent communication, interpersonal and team‑working skills Ability to work with diverse groups of people Desirable Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification, or commitment to enrol in a teaching programme during the probationary period and complete within three years, or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent) Experience in design/development of academic or professional education programmes or equivalent What We Offer 25 days annual leave, plus 8 public holidays 1‑day extra leave per year of service, up to a maximum of 5 days Workplace pension scheme Tuition reimbursement for career‑development courses Flexible benefits (e.g. cycle‑to‑work, workplace nursery, tech scheme and more) Perks@Work discounts platform, wellbeing centre and more Reward and recognition programme £500 award employee referral scheme Discretionary annual performance bonus Equality, Diversity and Inclusion GBS is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and providing a workplace free from discrimination or harassment.
