Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust Medicines Management Assistant The closing date is 16 December 2025 Medicines Management Assistant (Band 3, 37.5 hours, Permanent) will support Technicians and Pharmacists in Acute Medical Admissions at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust, and occasionally in our Emergency Department and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC). The role involves direct patient contact and working under the supervision of a Pharmacy Technician to assist in delivery of pharmaceutical care within the Trust through a safe, efficient, and cost‑effective medicines management programme. Main duties of the job Optimise patients’ own medicines brought into the hospital through direct or remote discussion with patients, family relatives, and carers. Use interpersonal skills to communicate the medicines optimisation strategy to the multidisciplinary team. Use interpersonal skills to ensure patients/relatives/carers understand the advantages of the Trusts Medicines Management Programme, employing excellent communication, persuasive skills, and knowledge of how to overcome barriers to understanding. Gain consent for the patient’s Summary Care Record to be viewed, ensuring full compliance with access regulations and patient confidentiality procedures. Record information relating to the patient’s medication onto the prescription sheet or, in the future, the electronic system. Following appropriate training and competence, participate in the medicines reconciliation service at ward level, involving ordering medication, assessing patients’ own medicines, and assessing the requirements for compliance aids. Person Specification Experience Previous experience of working in a busy Hospital or Community. Skills and Knowledge Can communicate effectively with patients and service users, both verbally and in writing. Able to prioritise own workload within the scope of organised rotas. Careful and accurate worker. Familiarity with the necessary keyboard skills required to use the departmental computer systems. Other Factors Able to meet the demands of a busy department and specifically to work competently under pressure. Able to work as part of a large team. Respect for working colleagues, other disciplines and the public.
