Position Title: Repairs Technical Officer Location: Forward Drive, Harrow, HA3 8NT (London Borough of Harrow) Employer: Pertemps Recruitment Partnership, representing the London Borough of Harrow Contract Type: Temporary - Initial 6-month assignment, with potential for extension Working Pattern: Hybrid working arrangement Pay Rate: £16.71 About the Role Pertemps Recruitment, in partnership with the London Borough of Harrow, is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Repairs Technical Officer to join the Housing Services team. This is a key support role focused on maintaining and improving the Council's housing stock through efficient repair services. Key Responsibilities Oversee and coordinate repairs across Council-owned housing, with a focus on one of the following areas: responsive repairs, mechanical and electrical services, or void properties. Raise and manage work orders for repairs, voids, and M&E tasks. Monitor job progress, liaise with contractors and residents, and ensure timely completion of works. Review and validate invoices against repair orders to maintain financial governance. Maintain accurate records, including safety certificates and compliance documentation. Collaborate with Contract Surveyors to uphold repair standards and manage costs effectively. Provide technical advice and support on maintenance issues. Offer guidance and assistance to residents, including those who may be vulnerable or in distress. Support colleagues across the Asset Management and Technical Services teams. To thrive in this role, candidates should demonstrate: A strong understanding of Harrow's diverse communities and the social impact of housing repairs. Proficiency in IT systems including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; familiarity with housing repair systems like Northgate is desirable. Solid knowledge of building repairs and the importance of cyclical maintenance. Awareness of challenges in social housing repair services. A commitment to delivering excellent customer service, especially in sensitive or high-pressure situations.
