We are seeking a passionate Clinical Psychologist to work with children and young people with learning disabilities experiencing poor mental health or emotional dysregulation. You will work within a highly experienced community-based team that values compassion, respect and professional development. You will be based Monday to Friday, visiting young people and families across a range of settings. Your role will involve multi‑disciplinary assessment and interventions, participation in research and audit projects, team learning events, training and service development. We provide robust clinical supervision, opportunities to work collaboratively, appraisal support and CPD. Regular psychology meetings and a supportive team culture emphasise compassionate care. This includes leading assessment, formulation and intervention work, and providing specialist support within the CAMHS Learning Disabilities service. You will also consult with local CAMHS teams, partners, and agencies across the county, delivering specialist individual and family psychological assessment and interventions for complex psychological problems and distress. Person Specification Education / Qualifications and Relevant Experience Post‑graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology Current HCPC registration Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the British Psychological Society (BPS) Managerial or supervisory responsibilities Skills and Aptitude Training preparation and delivery to a wide range of staff groups Provision of consultation to other professional and non‑professional groups Additional training in one or more specialised areas of psychological practice (e.g. Positive Behaviour Support, Learning Disability & Mental Health) Knowledge and Abilities Experience as a psychologist working with children in clinical or community settings Experience working with young children with severe emotional/behavioural difficulties Experience exercising full clinical responsibility for client’s psychological care and treatment, as care coordinator within a multi‑agency care plan Well‑developed communication skills (oral and written) for conveying technical, sensitive information to clients, families, and professional colleagues Knowledge of the Children and Social Work Act 2017, Children’s Act 1989 (2004) Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
