The Maintenance Manager plans, coordinates, and optimises all maintenance and reactive activities delivered by UKPNS at Heathrow to maximise system availability and resilience through effective scheduling, proactive contingency planning, clear communication, and strong stakeholder engagement. The role ensures full compliance with company, legislative and environmental standards, delivers engineering services that meet or exceed KPIs, and champions a customer-first approach that prioritises passengers and the airport community. Responsibilities Lead HV maintenance delivery by managing and coordinating monthly HV maintenance works with UKPNS to optimise efficiency, minimise disruption, and eliminate deferrals through effective planning and stakeholder engagement. Coordinates HV network operations and performance activities by supporting Heathrow Control Engineers and maintaining accurate updates to central planning tools (e.g. Electrical Works Planner) to ensure effective scheduling and resource alignment. Ensures all works are planned and delivered in full compliance with permit and regulatory requirements, securing timely submission and approval of all necessary documentation (including Works Approval, Distribution Safety Rules, Airside Works Approval, Street Works, Baggage, HAL IT, and British Airways IT [KITE] permits) Lead the coordination of UKPNS maintenance activities to ensure that maintenance and other contracted activities for all HV distribution network assets, including Low Voltage (LV) assets and other related assets are delivered in line with statutory requirements, current regulations, engineering standards and partnership agreements Accountable for maintaining Safe Systems of Work and permit management, driving continuous improvement through safety plans, training, workshops, risk assessments, and proactive management of accidents, incidents, and near misses to foster a positive safety culture. Conduct reviews of processes to ensure compliance, recommend and implement continuous improvements, and drive standards toward best practice. Developing and nurturing key internal and external stakeholder relationships and provide engineering support to stakeholders around the HV distribution network assets in a manner to raise the profile of the department and make it central to the operation. This may include leading delivery of minor improvement projects as defined by line manager. Provide support to the Asset Management team to ensure safe, timely, and high-quality project delivery and handovers, while acting as a conduit between Engineering Operations, Technical Services, and Supplier Operations to drive collaboration. Co-create performance improvement initiatives for the HV distribution network and operation work delivery plan. Ensuring effective communication and understanding of all associated risks. Qualifications City and Guilds, ONC/HNC or above in an appropriate Engineering discipline. Practical experience in electrical engineering and management of electrical distribution systems and switching. Experienced in communicating with all levels of the organisation, dealing professionally with colleagues, customers, and business partner. Desirable skills Experienced in the set up and network configuration of HV network at HAL. Full UK driving license and ability to obtain airside driving license.
