Job Overview Join a skilled team of Allied Health Professionals (AHPs), including occupational therapists, within the intensive inpatient rehabilitation service at the Michael Carlisle Centre & Longley Centre. Work under the supervision of occupational therapists to assess and deliver (care planned) individual and group interventions. Provide administration duties for the AHP team. Main Duties of the Job Initial assessment of new referrals in line with assessment protocols. Discuss complex service users with registered AHP to establish management plan. Participate in day‑to‑day running of the therapy programme, maintain administrative processes, monitor resources and equipment. Independently lead small groups, exercise and education programmes; participate in meaningful activities. Monitor service user involvement and progress in AHP care plans and report to the identified AHP. Identify areas for self‑development, participate in learning opportunities, and demonstrate self‑development. Understand role boundaries and importance of supervision. Respond flexibly to the requirements of the role and take responsibility for own work. Working for Our Organisation All employees must join the DBS Update Service. The Trust covers the fee through the Employee Expenses Reimbursement Policy. Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities Perform initial assessment and triage of new referrals. Discuss complex patients with a registered AHP to set management plans. Participate in therapy programme delivery, maintain procedures. Lead small groups, exercise and education programmes. Complete competency framework to practice autonomously. Maintain a professional portfolio in line with the AHP Support Worker Competency Framework. Contribute to evidence‑based care for a defined caseload with support from a registered AHP. Promote privacy, dignity, respect and well‑being of service users and carers. Work collaboratively with the team to deliver safe, high‑quality care. Apply clinical risk assessment and evidence‑based practice. Advocate for service users and refer to appropriate agencies. Interpret information, diagnose changes, and refer or elevate concerns as needed. Acknowledge limits of competence and seek feedback. Maintain service users’ activities of daily living and clinical observations. Participate in governance, multidisciplinary meetings, health & safety, infection control, audits. Report accidents, incidents and untoward incidents. Maintain confidential communication with service users and carers. Take reasonable care for own health and safety. Attend mandatory and statutory training. Person Specification Qualifications 3 A Levels or NVQ L3 in Health and Social Care. 5 GCSEs including Maths and English (4‑9 or A‑C) or equivalent. Competency‑based development and other role‑specific local training. Experience Significant experience as an AHPT assistant / Senior Support Worker (Band 3) or above within NHS or care setting. Experience of delivering individual/group activities and education sessions. Experience working with patients with a mental health condition. Knowledge Understanding of organisational policies, protocols, procedures and professional standards. Ability to assess patients and progress treatment plans independently. Awareness of social, cultural and economic influences and health inequalities affecting service users and families. Other Effective communication skills, written and oral. Ability to work independently within the scope of the role and within the team. Participation in research, audit, evaluation and service improvement.
