About the Role
As a Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will play a crucial role in supporting students with special educational needs. You will work closely with teachers to provide one-on-one and group support, helping students to overcome learning barriers and develop essential skills. You'll also prepare lesson materials, motivate classroom activities with your support, and offer valuable feedback on student progress, ensuring every step of their journey is impactful and engaging
Responsibilities of Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant (TA)
- Support Teachers: Collaborate with teachers to create tailored learning plans that address the specific needs of each student. Regularly review and adjust these plans to ensure they remain effective and relevant.
- One-on-One and Group Interventions: Offer individual and small group interventions to help students improve their learning outcomes. Use evidence-based strategies to support students in developing their academic and social skills.
- Encourage Positive Learning: Teach and reinforce effective study techniques, helping students to understand and engage with their studies. Encourage positive interactions and model appropriate behaviour.
- Classroom Support: Work alongside classroom teachers to implement learning strategies that promote a positive and inclusive learning environment. Support teachers in addressing learning challenges and fostering a culture of respect and cooperation.
- Monitor Progress: Maintain detailed records of students' progress and any interventions used. Provide regular updates to teachers, parents, and other relevant parties to ensure a coordinated approach to each student's development.
- Liaise with External Agencies: Ensure that students receive comprehensive support by collaborating with counsellors, social workers, and other professionals to address the broader needs of students and their families.
Requirements of Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant (TA)
- Prior experience in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is essential.
- Demonstrate a deep commitment to helping students with SEN, exhibiting patience and empathy.
- Ability to establish and maintain strong, supportive relationships with all members of the school community.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Relevant qualifications or training in education or Special Educational Needs (SEN) are desirable.
