Technical Manager – Chemicals
Job Type Full-time - On-site
Location: Cambridgeshire
A leading fine chemical/pharmaceutical manufacturer is seeking a Technical Manager to oversee Production and Development operations. The Technical Manager role is a key leadership role focused on safety, quality, team performance, and operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead day-to-day Production and Development operations.
* Ensure safe, compliant, high-quality manufacturing.
* Train, support, and develop team members.
* Review production and QC data; track KPIs and drive performance.
* Support audits, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Troubleshoot issues across Production, Development, QC, and other site functions.
* Coordinate maintenance, servicing, and calibration of equipment.
* Deputise for the Site Director as and when required.
Requirements
* Degree in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or relevant industrial experience.
* Leadership experience within chemical/pharma manufacturing.
* Strong problem-solving skills and understanding of ISO standards.
* Competent with Office 365 and basic IT systems.
* Knowledge of Six Sigma or similar is beneficial.
Desirable
* 10+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing
* Experience with analytical techniques (GC, HPLC, FTIR, KF).
* Project management and data analysis capabilities.
Additional Information
* On-site role
* Exposure to plant and lab environments; PPE sometimes required.
* Must have full Right to Work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
Benefits
25 days holiday + bank holidays, pension, life assurance, income protection, critical illness cover, health cash plan, and bonus scheme.
Salary £50,000 - £60,000.
