MDT Coordinator Band 4 - 37.5 hours per week An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time, fixed term contract for Maternity Cover as a Cancer Multidisciplinary Team Co-Ordinator (MDTC) in a progressive Cancer Services Team We are looking for a motivated and organised team player to join an established team. Training will be provided to support a new starter in this role. The individual will have an eye for detail ensuring accurate data input in line with National Cancer Waiting Times Guidance, Quality Surveillance and COSD. Main duties of the job The Cancer MDT Coordinator will work as an integral member of multi-disciplinary teams, providing a pro-active and facilitative clinical pathway navigation service by supporting clinical teams in ensuring that patient care is delivered in an effective and timely manner in accordance with national guidance. The post holder will be responsible for the pro-active organisation and planning of multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings, which will require regular consultation with clinical teams and a wide range of other health professionals, including local and regional cancer teams, booking teams and other support staff, both locally and at other providers. The post holder’s remit is informed by relevant and contemporary national cancer policy and revisions to these frameworks as they are published. The pro-active collection and dissemination of relevant clinical data and information is a crucial part of ensuring the success of the role and the data management elements of this post should not be underestimated. Detailed job description and main responsibilities Responsible for the pro-active and effective administration and coordination of multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings in accordance with local Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring that all new, suspected and confirmed recurrent and relapsed diagnoses of cancer, and intended treatments for patients, are discussed at MDT meetings and that all required clinical information is available to inform discussions. Responsible for managing the tumour-site specific MDT Patient Tracking List (PTL) in accordance with national guidance (Improving and Sustaining Cancer Performance and Cancer Waiting Times) and ensuring that all patients pathways are pro-actively managed from the point of a suspected cancer through to the commencement of treatment. Responsible for ensuring that all outcomes of MDT discussions are recorded on the MDT proforma with an identified owner, and ensuring that actions are carried out/monitored and communicated to departments involved in the patient pathway, expediting appointments/activity where required to meet national Improving and Sustaining Cancer Performance. Responsible for interrogating other Trust information systems (for example Medway) in order to pro-actively monitor individual patient pathways according to national 14-day, 31-day and 62-day access standards, expediting required events as appropriate and liaising with clinical teams and the Cancer Management Team regarding any irresolvable issues at the earliest opportunity. Responsible for providing administrative support to MDT meetings, including proforma production and communication of key outputs; collating, producing and distributing relevant MDT patient lists prior to each MDT meeting; ensuring sufficient timescales for pathology and radiology requests and other clinical information required; and recording all of this information on the Trust Cancer Database. Person specification Qualifications Educated to at least A-Level/diploma level or equivalent Demonstrable evidence of recognised IM&T qualifications (minimum equating to ECDL) Demonstrable evidence of further (relevant) Continual Professional Development Keyboard skills to RSA II or equivalent Database management Oncology for non-clinicians and/or National Cancer Intelligence Network e-learning cancer modules Experience An understanding of medical terminology relevant to the role Able to demonstrate experience of effective working in a team environment (any setting) Previous experience of coordination of a service Previous experience of using data validation and extraction software Experience of handling highly sensitive information Previous experience of using MS Office applications Previous NHS Experience Previous experience of working in MDT Coordinator role Familiarity with patient clinical notes and data systems Thank you for expressing interest in this role.
