Clinical Fellow SpR Level in Trauma & Orthopaedics - Spines Join to apply for the Clinical Fellow SpR Level in Trauma & Orthopaedics - Spines role at North Bristol NHS Trust. Job Overview Two senior fellow posts in Spinal Surgery, primarily focused on Orthopaedic Spine Surgery, will last 6 months and are aimed at post‑CCT neurosurgical and orthopaedic surgeons committed to spinal surgery. In addition, one post offers a Royal College of Surgeons (Eng.) accredited fellowship in complex spinal surgery. Main Duties The Senior Clinical Fellow Speciality Registrar will be based at the Brunel Building, at the newly built Southmead Hospital. The position caters specifically to Neurosurgeons and Orthopaedic Surgeons in their final year of training. Orthopaedic Surgeons may join the orthopaedic on‑call rota, while Neurosurgeons may be considered for the neurosurgery on‑call rota. Neurosurgical trainees will also be considered. The overall objective is to enable the successful candidate to undertake spinal surgery to consultant level by the end of the fellowship. Person Specification Qualification & Registration FRCS or equivalent Maintain full registration with the GMC Training & Experience Recent experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices (or equivalent) Minimum of 2 years postgraduate experience, including time in a role of equivalent responsibility and training potential Training in diagnosis and treatment of Orthopaedic Trauma & Orthopaedic Spinal conditions Neurosurgical trainees considered Proven commitment to Spinal Surgery Management & Audit Training Evidence of recent CME / reasonable training progression at this stage of career Experience in audit project and written reporting Research, Teaching & Publications Proven teaching ability Evidence of relevant publications in peer‑reviewed journals Proven track record in research (desirable) Demonstration of involvement in clinical directorate management (desirable) Other Requirements Good written communication skills Evidence of the ability to communicate with patients, colleagues and staff at all levels If you apply for this vacancy and have not received a communication from North Bristol NHS Trust within three weeks of the closing date, please assume that on this occasion your application has been unsuccessful.
