Preceptorship Post: Band 7 to 8a Clinical Psychologist in Neuropsychology We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist with an interest in Neuropsychology and rehabilitation to join our team. It is a great time to be joining our us as we develop our services across inpatient, outpatient and community settings. This position is offered as a band7 to 8a preceptorship with support to progress to band 8a once appropriate competencies have been achieved. The role will involve neuropsychological assessment and intervention within multidisciplinary neurorehabilitation teams through work with patients, families and carers, and by supporting the work of multidisciplinary colleagues. The post holder will join a team of Psychologists working within physical health and rehabilitation. They will supervise and support the psychological assessments and therapy provided by Assistant Psychologists and Trainee Clinical Psychologists as well as others who provide psychologically based care and treatment. The postholder will utilise research skills for research audit, policy and service developments and propose policy changes within the service and the broader multidisciplinary team. Supervision is available within the team for those seeking to pursue further training in Neuropsychology to gain eligibility for the Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists. We have also previously been successful in obtaining funding for aspects of this training. Neuropsychological assessment, formulation and intervention within neurorehabilitation services with patients, families and carers. Interdisciplinary working with colleagues to support the progression of rehabilitation interventions. Supporting the development of psychologically‑informed practice in services. The Psychology Service offers support and close links with other psychologists through facilitated reflective practice groups, CPD events and team meetings. To provide specialist psychological assessments of clients referred to the team based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests which require complex manipulation and timing skills, self‑report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi‑structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client’s care. To develop complex formulation and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a client’s complex psychological problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client’s problems, using highly developed specialist knowledge of a range of work procedures and practices, across the full range of care settings. Frequent and intense concentration is required. To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups, adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses. To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients whose problems are managed by psychologically based standard care plans. To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients’ formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.
