Where and when do we need you?

We are seeking a Outdoor Education Learning Practitioner at our Transition centre based in Wallington. Specialising in both social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) difficulties and autism (ASC), at Fair Ways School, our primary focus is for staff to support students in their transitional period either to full-time education or towards a working career. This is achieved in collaboration with their Education Health Plan (EHP).

As a Therapeutic Learning Practitioner at our School you will be involved in exciting and rewarding things like:

  1. Individualised lesson planning, delivery of lessons, marking of work and knowing when and how to differentiate appropriately using approaches which enable students to be taught effectively.
  2. Helping young people draw up action plans for employment, education and training and support them to achieve these goals. This will include a high standard of planning and delivery of the programme whilst supporting the individual needs of the student.
  3. Participating in the completion and monitoring of all student assessments and being accountable for student’s attainment, progress, and outcomes with your subject area.
  4. Supporting the implementation and delivery of each students Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Personal Education Plan (PEP) by providing relevant data to monitor progress, set targets and plan lessons.
  5. Liaising and negotiating with Employers, Colleges, Universities, and training providers to provide the best opportunities for our students.
  6. Demonstrating an understanding of, and a willingness to learn, how the young peoples’ early life experiences and how such experiences may result in, or contribute to, severe challenging behaviour.
  7. Recognising and accepting the possible need to intervene using positive handling strategies to make incidents safe, and to work as part of a consistent team.

This role is offered at 37.5 hours a week on a term time only basis. All candidates must have a full driving license and have access to the use of a car. Successful candidates will be required to provide an enhanced Disclosure (DBS). This disclosure cost will be met by Fair Ways.

Required

Teaching roles within our frontline services help achieve our mission of making a difference through passionate care, support, and education. To support this, you will be required to have, or be working towards a minimum of the following qualification levels:

  1. To be qualified to A Level or equivalent.
  2. Have specialist knowledge of a function, trade or craft acquired through advanced formal training. BTEC National Certificate / ONC level or A level or Scottish Highers in a job related discipline, or equivalent advanced craft certificate (City & Guilds Level 3/NVQ 3).
