Logistics Team Leader

Location Devon, GB Taw Valley Creamery, Devon, EX20 2DA How you will make an impact? As Logistics Team Leader, you will report directly to the Logistics Manager and lead a team of up to 28 direct reports within the Taw Valley dispatch areas. Working Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week), you will oversee the full site logistics process – from goods‑in and warehouse management to product packing, palletisation and loading – ensuring seamless, efficient, and safe operations. You will champion a culture of safety, quality, and compliance, collaborating closely with other departments and support functions to achieve site KPIs and budget targets. Your leadership will be instrumental in fostering a high‑performing, resilient team and supporting the site’s continuous improvement journey. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain a diverse and flexible workforce, ensuring optimal shift planning and effective coverage for absences. Lead recruitment, training, and development initiatives to strengthen the talent pipeline and conduct regular performance reviews to support individual growth. Oversee all goods‑in and goods‑out activities, ensuring accurate documentation, proper handling, and robust record‑keeping through regular audits. Monitor and analyze departmental KPIs, taking corrective action as needed to ensure targets are met. Maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness, ensuring all equipment is well maintained and fit for purpose. Lead quarterly projects aligned with the site’s business objectives, actively contributing to ongoing process improvements and operational excellence. Promote a healthy, inclusive, and secure working environment by ensuring strict adherence to Health & Safety (H&S) standards and proactively managing non‑compliance through LIA reporting. Identify and implement opportunities for cost savings and process enhancements within the department, supporting both operational efficiency and the broader business strategy. What will make you successful? A successful candidate for this role demonstrates strong leadership and team development skills, excels in optimizing logistics operations, and embraces a continuous improvement mindset. They communicate effectively, prioritize safety and compliance, and are adept at using warehouse management systems. Experience with SAP would be preferable. You will thrive in this role by demonstrating adaptability and a proactive approach to change, especially as the site undergoes significant transformation with the build of a new production line. Collaborating with project teams, integrating new processes into daily operations, and ensuring logistics requirements are met. You will also play a key role in guiding and supporting your team through change, communicating updates clearly, addressing concerns, and fostering resilience and engagement throughout the transition. Your ability to maintain operational excellence while championing change will be essential to the site’s ongoing success. What do we offer?
