Hays Accountancy and Finance are exclusively partnering with a modern and growing technology business based between Cheltenham & Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire to recruit a dynamic and driven Assistant Management Accountant. The role will report directly to the Financial Controller in a varied accounting role, including taking the lead on all accounts payable and treasury processes through to supporting management accounts preparation, year-end support, analysis and ad-hoc projects. A newly created growth role where you can really add value, remote/office hybrid working offered once settled into the business, along with future study support for CIMA/ACCA/AAT if wanted.

Your new role

Your key duties will involve supporting the preparation of management accounts, processing monthly journals, accruals, prepayments, monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and preparing monthly stakeholder reports with variance analysis. You will maintain the fixed asset register, prepare monthly depreciations and support year-end processes including preparation of deliverables for the audit. You will take the lead on all accounts payable processes, being the first point of contact for internal/external queries and processing invoices onto the accounting system with attention to nominal and VAT. You will oversee the approval of workflow processes, reconcile supplier statements and support process improvement. You will be involved in treasury processes including preparing bank reconciliations, petty cash management, payment run preparation and resolving any discrepancies. Your duties will grow as you develop within the organisation, including supporting Financial Management with process improvement to support business growth with the potential to supervise junior team members in the future.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for this hands-on and varied Assistant Management Accountant role, you will need experience within a similar role. Ideally, AAT qualified or studying towards CIMA/ACCA, candidates qualified by experience will be considered. You will have strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately process financial data, strong communication skills to partner with internal teams and external parties, along with being a team player who is happy to support others around the business. You will be willing to learn, with a positive and proactive working approach, hands-on and adaptable to business needs. Experience within a small/medium-sized organisation within the technology sector and Xero financial packages would be advantageous but not essential.

What you'll get in return

This permanent Assistant Management Accountant role offers a salary between £30,000 - £34,000 per annum, dependent on experience based between Cheltenham & Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. Remote/office hybrid working is offered once settled into the business, along with future study support for a financial qualification CIMA/ACCA/AAT.
