Data Quality and Validation Clerk Employer: The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust Employment: Fixed term contract, 12 months, full‑time. Pay: £24,937 to £26,598 per annum (Agenda for Change, Band 3). Job Summary Opportunity for a Data Quality and Validation Clerk, working across teams to assist in the provision of specific patient data quality and validation. The role requires computer literacy, strong communication skills, and excellent teamwork. This vacancy is open only to employees of The RJAH Orthopaedic Hospital NHS FT, Shrewsbury & Telford NHS Trust, Shropshire Community NHS Trust and Shropshire Telford and Wrekin ICB. Applications from candidates not currently working in these organisations will not be accepted. Under current Home Office Immigration Rules, this role does not meet the UK Visas and Immigration criteria and the position is not therefore eligible for sponsorship; applicants requiring skilled worker sponsorship will not be shortlisted. Responsibilities Validate patient records against the provided criteria and rectify any discrepancies. Oversee and ensure tasks are completed daily, meeting internal deadlines. Regularly update and provide the necessary templates and data to show current status of specific administrative validations/reviews for reporting. Maintain and update internal procedural documentation used within the department, ensuring routine reviews are carried out. Maintain competency to fully utilise the systems and software used within the role. Keep patient information confidential at all times, abiding by the Trust’s Confidentiality and Data Protection Policies. Escalate any unresolved issues to a supervisor. Actively participate in any training or development programmes run for Information Management staff. Work unsupervised and on own initiative in accordance with required controls. Suggest improvements to workflows to reduce volumes of data quality issues. Person Specification Essential NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience. Good standard of education to GCSE C standard in English and Maths. Experience in an office environment, use of computers, and competence in Microsoft Office. Previous NHS/public sector experience or equivalent, or demonstrate transferable skills from other sectors. Ability to manipulate data within a spreadsheet. Ability to utilise electronic patient systems and other databases. High level of verbal and written communication skills. Good interpersonal skills. Able to work to deadlines. Good telephone manner. Tact and discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential information. Ability to organise and prioritise own work. Ability to manage a busy workload where accuracy and attention to detail are essential. Team player, able to work flexibly. Desirable Previous experience of using medical records. Validation or data quality experience. Knowledge of electronic patient systems. Medical terminology. Able to use a variety of hospital systems or ability to learn.
