We are looking for a skilled and experienced Structural Engineer to support the design, assessment, and optioneering of highway structures, including bridges and retaining walls. This role provides the opportunity to deliver technical leadership and analytical expertise within a collaborative, small design team.Reporting to the Team Leader, you will mentor junior staff while maintaining the highest technical standards in your own work. You will contribute to the successful delivery of the structures programme, leveraging your deep knowledge of structural design codes (Eurocodes and British Standards), DMRB, MCHW, and CDM regulations and processes. Precision, initiative, and a strong understanding of industry best practice are essential.The RoleLead and mentor teams on structural analysis, optioneering studies, feasibility studies, tender production, detailed design, and preparation of contract documents and technical reports.Collaborate with colleagues and other disciplines to provide an integrated, high-quality service to clients.Identify and implement innovative solutions to deliver value and enhance project outcomes.Support and guide junior team members, fostering professional growth and knowledge sharing.Promote Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Quality Management, and Construction Design Management processes, contributing to the prevention of work-related injuries by following Essex Highways’ policies and procedures.Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related discipline.Professional qualification (or actively working towards one, e.g., CEng/ICE).Excellent communication, collaboration, and time-management skills.Project management experience, preferably in bridge design or related disciplines.Strong technical design expertise and practical problem-solving abilities.At Ringway Jacobs we recognise that our people make the difference, and in order to do what we do well, particular care is taken in nurturing and investing in our people.
