Opportunities exist across our medical, surgical, haematology wards and oncology critical care unit for Band 2 healthcare assistants and Band 3 senior healthcare assistants. Main Duties Assists with patient care under nurse supervision, including mobilising, toileting, bathing, dressing and feeding. Performs delegated clinical duties: recording observations, assisting with pressure area care, supporting basic CPR. Maintains accurate documentation and communicates with the multidisciplinary team. Supports mobility, use of equipment, and prevention of pressure ulcers. Assists in meal service, stocking, and food handling following Trust policy. Chaperones patients during transfers and provides orientation to ward visitors. Assists with end‑of‑life procedures and communicates respectfully and sensitively. Operates equipment safely, reports faults, and contributes to infection control. Undergoes mandatory training and maintains a professional portfolio. Environment Support Identifies risks, follows safety procedures, and maintains a clean workplace. Prepares clinical environments, cleans equipment, and manages linen stock. Records and reports accidents, complaints, and equipment faults. Reports all incidents and contributes to service improvement. Administration Prepares patient notes, charts and identity bracelets. Manages clerical duties in line with Information Governance policy. Person Specification Essential Qualifications National Care Certificate or willingness to complete the Christie Care Certificate within 12 weeks. Basic literacy and numeracy skills. Essential Experience Experience working with people in a customer service environment. Desirable Experience Experience in a health or social care setting. Essential Skills Good written and verbal communication. Capable of following instructions and routine tasks. Works on own initiative under supervision of a Registered Healthcare Practitioner. Desirable Skills Computer skills. Essential Knowledge Understanding of the healthcare support worker role. Essential Values Demonstrates The Christie NHS Trust values and behaviours.
