As a Response Officer Nights only, you will thrive on working as a team to provide a professional and responsive service to residents who complain about excessive out of hours noise, working 35.25 Hours per week on a 4 days on 4 days off shift rota. The role attracts a shift allowance and weekend enhancements pro rata. Responsibilities Respond to and witness noise complaints and address these by asking perpetrators to take steps to stop/reduce noise levels. Undertake paperwork to record what you have witnessed and attend court as required. Undertake routine patrol and security checks at various locations; work in pairs to establish whether reports of noise nuisance constitute a nuisance as per Section 79 (1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 or under the Anti‑Social Behaviour, Crime & Policing Act 2014. Provide a responsive, professional service to customers and partners to support crime reduction, in line with the Safer Leeds Plan. Work flexibly across the service to respond to a range of different services across Leeds, performing routine patrol and security checks on various premises. Respond to alarm activations and planned / proactive patrols. Carry out duties in accordance with operational procedures, codes of practice and relevant legislation. Produce and maintain detailed records and evidential material in a clear and accurate format. Collaborate with West Yorkshire Police to reduce crime through partnership engagement and action days. Use own initiative, comply with all operational procedures, work flexibly, and contribute to the development of Leedswatch. Meet key performance indicators, objectives and targets as a team. Use communication tools such as radio, telephone, body cameras, mobile CCTV equipment, as well as basic IT equipment (MIFI, laptops, MS Office). Ring customers back to determine if noise is still ongoing, carry out visits to witness and document any nuisance within the complainant's property when appropriate. When noise is witnessed and deemed unreasonable, contact domestic and commercial premises to advise them to reduce volume to an acceptable level. Serve warnings or legal notices as required under EPA Act 1990 & Anti‑Social Behaviour, Crime & Policing Act 2014; attend court as necessary. Maintain a polite and professional manner at all times, especially when dealing with difficult or abusive situations. Respond to customers and clients when incidents are reported (e.g., alarms, noise nuisance, cars in tower blocks, parks and countryside). Re‑secure premises, seek assistance of partners and emergency services where necessary. Issue, collect, and audit keys on behalf of clients as required. Complete administrative procedures as required. Conduct dynamic risk assessments to ensure health and safety. Participate in appraisal, training and development activities. Share knowledge and best practice with colleagues and managers. Attend relevant meetings, training days and events as requested. Comply with Leeds City Council policies and procedures (e.g., child protection, health, safety, confidentiality, data protection). Drive a vehicle in accordance with council regulations; keep the VEV clean, report concerns to supervisors. Essential Requirements Full and current UK driving licence. Ability to keep accurate records and understand regulations, policy and legislation. Ability to preserve crime scenes & evidence. Team player, ability to work with minimum supervision. Effective communication at all levels. Understanding of confidentiality and Data Protection Act. Prepare accurate information and produce witness statements. Willingness to attend court and give evidence. Investigate and assess appropriate actions to resolve issues. Compliance with council health & safety policies. Experience with computer packages. Experience liaising with Police and other agencies. Experience working as part of a team to meet targets. Driving ability & police vetting. Salary & Benefits Competitive salary: £28,142 per annum (£37,428 with pro‑rate enhancements). Annual leave entitlement plus statutory holidays.
