iCaSH Healthcare Technician Part‑time: 17 hrs per week. To work 1 Saturday morning in 4. Availability until 4th December 2025; vacancy may close if demand is high. Overview The post holder will support the delivery of direct and indirect healthcare for patients attending the integrated contraception and sexual health (iCaSH) service which is part of Cambridgeshire Community Services (CCS). This may include supporting patients who present with sexually transmitted infections, HIV/AIDS, contraception requirements and/or any other sexual health related problems. Responsibilities Support the delivery of direct and indirect healthcare for iCaSH patients, including those with STIs, HIV/AIDS, contraception needs and other sexual health issues. Work as part of the health advising team, performing clerical duties such as managing the results notification system, administering vaccinations, booking appointments, following up recalls and supporting service users both in person and on the phone. Welcome patients, obtain the relevant personal and clinical details and treat such information as confidential. Assist in the management of the recall system for patients that require follow‑up. Receive, prioritise and deal appropriately with referrals from local stakeholders via letters, emails and telephone calls. Operate the bespoke Lilie patient administration system, booking appointments, registering patient details, sending texts, coding clinical episodes and supporting data collection. Assist the nursing team with other duties where workload allows and with prior agreement of the Clinical Nurse Manager. Operate additional computer‑based systems such as the online testing platform for patient communication, follow‑up and data collection. Support the Health Advisers in partner notification processes, working within the iCaSH Health Adviser Handbook guidance. Take on non‑clinical duties in support of the admin team, e.g. call taking, reception cover for the 0300 number, general patient and non‑patient administration. Read, interpret and understand the clinical records of individual patients and act accurately on test results. Support medical and nursing staff with patient recall to ensure safe and timely follow‑up. After training and competence, act as a chaperone and assist nurses/doctors with intimate examinations, procedures or sexual health screening. Interact face‑to‑face, on the telephone or on online testing platforms daily with the public and patients, handling queries efficiently. Prioritise and action negative clinical pathology results, contact patients to inform them of results and arrange follow‑up where necessary. Participate in outreach and health promotion events when requested. After training, provide phlebotomy for patients attending the service. After training, read and interpret microscopy slides as directed, documenting and communicating findings when required. After training and being deemed competent, administer prescribed vaccines in accordance with service guidelines and SOPs. Hold the Care Certificate and deliver the associated standards of care, or undertake the training at the earliest opportunity upon recruitment to post. Maintain close liaison with Health Advisers, HIV specialist nurses and other multidisciplinary team members to promote efficient patient care. Be conversant with the roles of all staff within the service and occasionally with other internal or external colleagues. Ensure correct storage of patient records as per Trust record‑keeping policies and information governance procedures. Liaise with other services for the coordination of patient care and the smooth running of the department. Any exposure to sensitive, confidential information is handled per organisational policies, information governance policies and procedures. Welcome visitors and patients to the clinical area, providing assistance, support and information where required. Maintain courteous and professional communication on the telephone, with staff, patients and visitors. Accurate record keeping in line with Trust and national standards. Monitor and reassure patients during clinical procedures. Actively participate in multidisciplinary training, meetings and events. Signpost clients to other services where appropriate. Support timely and accurate data entry and audit for performance and quality reporting. Support the teaching and supervision of students from a variety of disciplines and assist in training new staff. Ensure all organisation‑wide communication is accessed and adhered to via the nhs.net account. Assist in maintaining stock levels (drugs/clinical supplies), reporting discrepancies and undertaking stock control and ordering as required. Maintain own professional development, participate in annual appraisals, one‑to‑ones and training identified by the Clinic Manager. Recognise limitations and seek direction when necessary. Contribute to the development of patient care and setting standards. Participate in clinical and other audits as guided by senior team members. Participate in clinical and safeguarding audits with guidance from senior members. Adhere to Data Protection Act, Information Governance, Information Security, risk assessment, infection prevention and control policies, and safeguarding policies. Participate in clinical supervision and relevant emergency preparedness processes. Prepare clinic rooms prior to sessions, ensuring equipment/supplies are available, tidying and housekeeping duties within the clinic. After training and signing off as competent, perform identified tests for patients. Ensure laboratory specimens are correctly labelled, bagged and dispatched to the appropriate laboratory. Attend all relevant meetings when on shift and available. Direct and escort patients and visitors around the clinic and signpost to other services. Take all reasonable steps to ensure safe keeping of patient property. Support engagement, development and cultural priorities of the service. Key Attributes All are welcome to apply.
