Ward Staff Nurse – OCM Ireland Join to apply for the Ward Staff Nurse role at OCM Ireland. This is a Registered Nurse (band 5) position based in Beccles, Suffolk, at our Intermediate Care Centre (ICC) that provides rehabilitation and Specialist Palliative Care services to patients in the Great Yarmouth and Waveney area. Job Summary Our ICC aims to reduce acute hospital admissions and facilitate early discharge by leveraging a multidisciplinary team. The role includes 6 consultant‐led Specialist Palliative Care beds that focus on intensive symptom control and quality of life. Key Duties Provide autonomous nursing care with high clinical reasoning to deliver safe, individualised treatment. Work 11.5‑hour shifts, including weekends and bank holidays. Collaborate with the multi‑professional team to assess, monitor and manage patient care in accordance with service pathways. Advise and support patients on treatment options, discharge planning and decision‑making. Serve as a resource for other health and social care professionals on nursing matters. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, clinical supervision, audit and governance activities. Lead the ward or site in the absence of the Sister/Charge Nurse, ensuring a safe environment. Maintain accurate patient records and comply with health and safety, risk management and ECCH policies. Support staff development, education and efficient resource utilisation. Experience & Qualifications Registered Nurse (band 5) with NMC registration and continued professional development. Experience in a hospital or community/secondary care setting. Desirable: Experience improving clinical practice or using a case‑management approach; Mentorship/teaching or a health‑related degree. Essential Skills and Personal Attributes Excellent written and verbal communication. Strong organisational and time‑management skills. Capacity to work independently and exercise clinical judgement. Ability to prioritise, delegate workload and manage unplanned situations. Understanding of clinical governance, CQC standards and legal/ethical issues. Proficiency in phlebotomy, cannulation and intravenous therapy. Competence in SystmOne record‑keeping. Willingness to travel across sites and work flexible hours.
