Senior Business Analyst / Product Consultant (Public Sector)Kainos, Birmingham, United KingdomOverviewAs a Senior Business Analyst in Kainos, you will be responsible for ensuring that your team has a good understanding of business needs so that customer solutions meet the needs of users. You will articulate problems and processes in ways understood by all stakeholders—business and technical—and facilitate the analysis and design of cost-effective software solutions that impact users worldwide.ResponsibilitiesExperience in bespoke software delivery, operating as part of an agile team for an external customer (client-facing role in a consulting environment is required).Engage with UK public sector projects and understand domain requirements.Capture, analyze, and translate business needs into user stories and acceptance criteria for the Scrum team.Model business processes, capture current and design new processes, and present processes to achieve stakeholder buy-in.Facilitate small-group sessions to achieve focused outcomes with development teams, product approval committees, and delivery managers.Translate business requirements into cost-effective functional requirements with strong commercial awareness and adherence to project constraints.Display strong verbal and written communication skills to engage a variety of stakeholders.Minimum RequirementsExperience in bespoke software delivery as part of an agile team for an external customer (client-facing in a consulting environment).UK public sector experience.Extensive experience in a relevant commercial or technical environment.Broad business and technology understanding with awareness of industry trends.Proficient in stakeholder management, able to balance needs and challenge where appropriate.Excellent user story creation skills and ability to articulate business needs for the Scrum team (story writing, backlog management, refinement, and prioritization).Strong business process modelling skills and capability to present processes for buy-in.Competent facilitator of small groups to achieve outcomes.Ability to translate business requirements into cost-effective functional requirements.Good commercial awareness and ability to deliver within project constraints.Strong understanding of Agile and Waterfall project delivery methodologies.Flexible work approach with the ability to meet tight deadlines.Team collaboration skills, including experience working in a multi-disciplinary team.Good verbal and written communication skills with stakeholders.DesirableExperience of software development or related problem-solving discipline.Experience delivering high-quality digital products on client sites with stakeholder management.Ability to mentor and coach team members and the wider community.Experience mentoring customers on good story-writing techniques.Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies across various frameworks (e.g., Waterfall, Scrum, Kanban).Active participation in communities of interest (e.g., online groups, conferences).Embracing our differencesAt Kainos, we believe in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
