Please do not apply unless you have another means of establishing a right to workCome and join our Events Team, who are involved in multi-product donor awareness and engagement: promoting blood, plasma, platelets, stem cells & organ donation at a wide variety of events, including businesses, universities, and public spaces.You don't need a medical background; we just need you to have experience in a customer-facing environment (including voluntary roles). You will set up and run What's Your Blood Type? events - previously known as Know Your Type - where you will perform blood-typing tests (full training provided). You'll also be expected to keep up to date with the latest criteria and processes for different donation types and be able to explain these clearly to members of the public.Its best if you live within about 15 miles of where the events happen, since things can move quickly and you might need to travel at short notice (well always give you a heads-up though). Some events happen on weekends, so youll need to be available occasionally but dont worry, its not every weekend. We do offer extra pay for weekend shifts, and certain travel costs can be reimbursed based on our policy.Main duties of the jobMain duties of the jobIn this role you will work with the marketing team to register and book appointments for new blood donors at a variety of events, including shopping centres and workplaces. You will set up and run Know Your Type (KYT) events where you will perform blood type testing. Your duties at the events will include:Collecting event equipment and manually setting up suitable spaces to run the eventPerforming blood sampling (finger prick test) on members of the public in accordance with our procedures to produce a provisional blood group type for demonstration purposes only. Full training is provided.Offering information to members of the public on donation in general and specifically in relation to their provisional blood type.Providing reports to line manager on numbers of people seen and signed up as donors to continually monitor effectiveness of events.Packing away all equipment and returning this to base for safe disposal of sharps and clinical waste.Receiving training in basic care/first aid to enable you to respond in cases of adverse reactions.Loading, unloading, assembling and dismantling equipment on a daily basis, including heavy objects of up to 13 kgs.About usIt takes all types of people to deliver the kind of service that saves and improves lives.
