Join our dedicated team as a Tobacco Treatment & MECC Advisor and help improve the health and wellbeing of patients aged 12+ and their families. As a key member of our small, dynamic team, you'll play a vital role in supporting patients and families on their journey to better health. You'll deliver tobacco treatment interventions and Make Every Contact Count (MECC) conversations, helping individuals make meaningful behaviour changes that matter to them. About You Educated to GCSE (or equivalent) grade C or above in English and Maths. NVQ level 3 in Health care (or equivalent). Smoking Cessation Training Level 2 or willing to undertake within 3 months of starting in post. A compassionate and proactive approach to patient care Strong communication and teamwork skills Confident user of Microsoft Package Main duties of the job Reporting into the Healthy Hospital Programme, your responsibilities will include Provide tobacco treatment support to patients and families on the ward Deliver MECC interventions to promote healthier choices Encourage and support staff to routinely screen for smoking status Act as a positive role model, championing the importance of tobacco treatment Assist with administrative duties to support the smooth running of the service About us At Sheffield Children's, our purpose is clear: to provide healthier futures for children and young people. Person Specification Qualification and training Educated to GCSE (or equivalent) grade C or above in English and Maths NVQ level 3 in Health care (or equivalent) Smoking Cessation Training Level 2 or willing to undertake within 3 months of starting in post Specific training in health promotion interventions Personal Attributes Well-developed interpersonal skills Enthusiasm and ability to motivate self and others Commitment to the promotion of equality of opportunity Fully supportive of Trust's smoke free policy acting as a smoke free champion Ability to work flexible hours when team / service requires including weekends Experience Experience of working in the NHS in the community or hospital setting Experience of providing healthcare, healthcare advice or health promotion advice to patients or members of the public Experience of providing help, support and/or counselling on a one to one or group basis Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
