Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Salary: £45,000 – £60,000. Location: Birmingham, UK (Hybrid working available). We are currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a respected and forward‑thinking building services consultancy. About the Role Lead the mechanical design aspects of building services projects from concept through to completion. Design HVAC systems including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and cooling. Produce detailed mechanical specifications and drawings. Carry out thermal modelling, load calculations, and equipment selection. Oversee mechanical design compliance with industry standards and regulations. Coordinate with other disciplines and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. Contribute to sustainable design strategies and low‑energy solutions. Manage and mentor junior engineers as part of project delivery. What We're Looking For Proven experience in mechanical building services design within a consultancy or similar environment. Solid understanding of HVAC systems and mechanical design principles. Experience with industry‑standard software such as IES, Hevacomp, or Revit. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to manage projects and deliver high‑quality design solutions to deadlines. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline. Working toward or holding professional registration (IEng/CEng) would be advantageous.
