You will need a good understanding and experience of the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005. You will work creatively with adults who have care and support needs, committing to strengths‑based practice that promotes independence and wellbeing while managing risks safely.You will work within a wider Social Care Team and Directorate, including Community Forensic Social Work teams and the Mental Health Discharge Team. Clinical Occupational Therapy supervision will be provided by a Senior Occupational Therapist, and you will have the opportunity to partner with the wider Occupational Therapy teams within Nottinghamshire County Council.Key ResponsibilitiesUndertake occupational therapy assessments and interventions for adult prisoners in Nottinghamshire, providing care and support where needs meet eligibility criteria (Care Act 2014) and organising transfer of care back into the community upon sentence completion.Conduct assessments in hospitals, community settings, prescribe equipment, carry out environmental assessments of properties to identify suitable housing, and perform functional assessments to determine appropriate Occupational Therapy outcomes.Assess and review ongoing needs, commission appropriate services (equipment, adaptations, techniques, care packages, goal setting) to maximise independence, improve quality of life for people with support needs and informal carers, and reduce, prevent or delay the need for formal or residential care in line with the Care Act 2014.As An Ideal Candidate, You Will BeA qualified Occupational Therapist, current registration with the Health and Care Professionals Council.Experienced in Occupational Therapy practice.Effective communication, negotiation, organisational and IT skills.Committed to interprofessional collaboration with partner agencies.Capable of working autonomously and maintaining high resilience.Able to drive with a UK driving licence (unless a disability precludes this).You will be working in an exciting and sometimes challenging environment in close partnership with prison services and external agencies which will require high levels of confidence and independence.Nottinghamshire County Council values its employees and is committed to their growth and well-being.
