Community Administrative Support – NHS Join to apply for the Community Administrative Support role at NHS. Job Summary An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Central Booking Service as part of the Whittington Community Patients Access Service. Post holder will register, source, and upload patient documents; book, reschedule, and process appointments; and use RIO and Medway software. The role requires excellent customer care, shift work (8 am‑8 pm, Monday‑Sunday, including bank holidays), and occasional travel across Whittington Health sites. Main duties of the job Line‑manage junior staff. Provide courteous, sensitive, high‑quality communication with the public, and liaise with other departments. Gather key information, conduct initial triage, and manage appointments. Register new patients onto electronic record systems such as RiO and Medway. Administer clinic processes: booking interpreters and transport, confirming attendance, printing appointment letters, processing outcomes, discharges, cancellations, and rescheduling. Support band 4 administrators in referral management and appointment booking. Assist colleagues and cover workloads during absences. Training and Development Participate in the Trust’s appraisal system and attend training courses as needed. Continuously develop self‑skills and complete mandatory training modules. Person Specification Essential Qualifications GCSE/O Level or equivalent; higher education to A‑Level or equivalent experience. Excellent written and spoken English. Essential Experience Previous admin/office experience. Previous NHS experience. Experience booking and changing appointments. Experience using RIO and other patient data entry systems. Experience dealing with the public face‑to‑face and by telephone. Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Teamworking ability. Composure in stressful situations. Willingness to undertake relevant training. Clear, professional communication. Personal Qualities Responsible, flexible, and well‑organised. Strong prioritisation and time‑management skills.
