Title: Medical Facilities Inspector State Role Title: Health Care Compliance Spec II Hiring Range: 75,000 - 86,250 Pay Band: 5 Agency: Virginia Department of Health Location: Dept of Health Agency Website: https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/ Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties The Office of Licensure and Certification (OLC) in Richmond, Virginia is seeking full‑time Medical Facilities Inspectors for the Piedmont Region’s Long‑Term Care Team. This position currently offers a sign‑on bonus of $5,000 and 80 hours of front‑loaded annual leave time with a one‑year written agreement for external candidates. This position is for the Long‑Term Care unit and will require travel primarily in Piedmont. Cities include but not limited to: Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, Waynesboro, Lynchburg, Staunton, Lexington, South Boston, Chase City, Fork Union, Bedford, Appomattox, Louisa, Springfield, Arlington, Clifton Forge, Fishersville, Alta Vista, Low Morr, Bridgewater, Clarksville, Amherst, Standardsville, and Buena Vista. The primary purpose of the Medical Facilities Inspector for the Home Health and Hospice Team is to independently or as part of a team conduct inspections/surveys or reviews of health‑care facilities for the purpose of licensure and/or certification issuance, maintenance and/or renewal to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and promotion of quality health‑care practices. Conduct complaints investigations; compile and evaluate information in determining degree of compliance; communicate findings orally and in writing; review and recommend approval, denial, or revisions to health‑care provider's plan; recommend plan of correction to supervisor when provider is not in compliance. May serve as information resource to health‑care providers. Position requires travel. Minimum Qualifications Specialized knowledge of health‑care systems and services, quality of care issues & health‑care administration. Experience communicating orally and in writing in a clear, concise, and legally defensible manner; experience managing multiple assignments independently. Experience assessing individual patient/resident medical care plans and outcomes, the overall quality of facility care and services, and interpreting and applying complex state/federal regulations to the findings. If working in LTC and/or Complaint unit, must obtain SMQT Certification within 12 months of hire date. All MFIs must obtain medical clearance for fit testing in accordance with OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard (29 CFR 1910.134) regulations within 90 days of hire date and annually with exception to Complaint Unit. Additional Considerations Experience working with state regulations. Registered Nurse License (RN).
