Design & Technology Teacher role in: Burton on Trent

Salary: MPS1 - MPS6 per day, DOE
Temporary Contract: Long-term cover
Full Time Vacancy: 8:30am - 3:30/4:30pm, Monday to Friday

Design & Technology Teacher Specification

Empowering Learning is seeking a passionate and creative Design & Technology Teacher (not-Food Technology) to join a thriving secondary school in Burton on Trent. This is a full-time, long-term position to start in January 2026.

The successful candidate will plan and deliver engaging, practical lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, specialising in one or more of the following areas: Product Design, Resistant Materials, Engineering, Graphics, or Systems & Control. You will inspire students to think creatively, problem-solve effectively, and develop practical skills that prepare them for GCSE success and future careers in design and engineering.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to contribute to a forward-thinking Technology Department and promote high standards of achievement and innovation.

Requirements:

UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
Proven experience teaching Design & Technology (non-Food) at KS3 and/or KS4
Excellent subject knowledge and understanding of current curriculum developments
Strong classroom management and organisational skills
Ability to deliver practical and theory-based lessons using a range of tools and software (e.g. CAD/CAM)
A commitment to promoting creativity, inclusion, and independent learning
Level 1 Safeguarding Training (training can be provided)
Valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
