Job Summary Job Title: Clinical Fellow Obs & Gynae Band: ST3-5 Hours of Work (p/w): 40 hours Service Centre/Directorate: Women's Services Obs & Gynaecology Base: St George's Hospital / St George's University of London as appropriate Main Duties The clinical fellow will work on the general obstetrics and gynaecology rota. This involves working a 1 in 8 on‑call rota on the junior registrar rota (ST3‑5) comprising of 1 in 8 weekday days (Monday‑Thursday 0830‑2100), 1 in 8 weekday nights (Monday‑Thursday 2000‑0830) and 1 in 8 weekend days (Saturday and Sunday 0830‑2000) and nights (Friday, Saturday and Sunday 2000‑0830). When covering the Acute Gynaecology Unit there may be a weekend on‑call. When not on‑call, daytime duties will be on the junior registrar rota providing care to women in the wide range of services offered by the department; these duties will include antenatal, postnatal and gynaecology ward rounds, gynaecology and antenatal clinics, gynaecology theatres and elective caesarean section lists. Daytime delivery suite cover is by a junior registrar (ST3‑5) and consultant. Daytime gynaecology cover is provided by acute gynaecology fellows who run the unit between 0830 and 2100 daily. The maternity unit has a strong track record of training in intrapartum fetal monitoring using a fetal physiology and the clinical fellow would be expected to attend weekly training sessions. Person Specification Qualifications and Training (Essential) Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) or eligible for full registration if applying from abroad MRCOG Part 2 up to date and adult and neonatal resuscitation training Qualifications and Training (Desirable) Full MRCOG Evidence of publications or equivalent course Experience (Essential) Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for ST3‑5 level Experience in delivering care in a high‑risk delivery suite Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients Experience (Desirable) Demonstrate a range of ideas for further research within specialist areas Evidence of developing evidence‑based services in obstetrics (eg audit, guidelines or service development) Skills (Essential) Able to function at ST3‑5 level on delivery suite Skills (Desirable) Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching experience Able to perform acute gynaecology procedures (diagnostic laparoscopy, laparoscopic salpingectomy, SSM) Personal (Essential) Organisational and IT skills Ability to work in a team Leadership skills Good interpersonal skills and a caring attitude to patients Commitment to continuing medical education Personal (Desirable) An awareness of their own strengths and weaknesses Additional Information Disclosure and Barring Service Check: This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and a submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service is required to check for any previous criminal convictions.
