Nestle UK&I – External Location: York Shift Pattern: Monday – Thursday, 7am – 3:30pm; Friday, 7am – 3pm Salary: £56,126 plus company‑wide benefits This is a full‑time permanent opportunity. Position Summary Reporting to the Maintenance Manager you will be responsible for the implementation and execution of the factory asset maintenance programme aimed to eliminate unplanned stops and optimise maintenance cost, thereby increasing asset intensity. This includes the repair, reporting and analysis of unplanned technical failures, and the execution of planned and scheduled maintenance to prevent such failures. You will provide technical expertise to reduce both technical and production losses, coach, participate in problem‑solving, implement solutions, share knowledge, and help build competence. Your impact As an Engineering Technician, you will participate in the implementation and execution of the factory asset maintenance programme, aiming to eliminate unplanned stops and optimise maintenance cost, thereby increasing asset intensity. Key Responsibilities Providing technical expertise to reduce both technical and production losses, including coaching and participation in problem‑solving, implementing solutions, sharing knowledge, and building competence. Providing input for the annual maintenance budget; reporting and tracking maintenance work order costs. Supporting production to eliminate quality defects, safety risks, and chronic technical issues. Leading and participating in breakdown analysis. Actively participating in maintenance routines to ensure that maintenance activities are scheduled and executed in time with high quality. Assisting with the technical training programme for all factory operational staff. Demonstrating strong problem‑solving and fault‑diagnosis skills, and possessing prior knowledge of a Computerised Maintenance Management System. Being a team player with a real drive for continuous improvement and development. Ingredients for success NVQ Level 3 and National Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with a time‑served apprenticeship (please provide details on CV). Dual training (mechanical and electrical) with proven experience in manufacturing, preferably the food industry. Knowledge of the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671). Experience in installation, inspection and testing (e.g., minor works training or City and Guilds). What You Need To Know The closing date for this role is 17 December 2025.
