Assistant Store Manager – Step Up and Make a Real Impact in Barnsley Location: DEBRA Shop, Barnsley Contract: Permanent Hours: Part-time – 21 hours per week (3 days over 7, including rotated weekend shifts) Pay: £12.71 per hour / £13,879.32 per annum Are you ready to take the next step in your retail career? DEBRA is looking for a proactive and hands‑on Assistant Store Manager to join our team in Barnsley. This is a keyholder role with real leadership responsibility. You will support the Shop Manager in daily operations and confidently step in when they're not present. With flexibility to cover additional shifts when required, and a monthly rota provided in advance, this role offers both structure and variety. Why DEBRA? Your Role Support the Shop Manager in running day-to-day operations Act as keyholder and take charge when the Manager is absent Lead and motivate volunteers and sales assistants Handle donated stock – sorting, pricing, and moving items Create engaging displays and maintain a clean, organised shop floor Deliver excellent customer service and promote Gift Aid Manage financial transactions and ensure shop security Maintain compliance with health & safety and trading standards What You will Bring Previous retail experience and a passion for customer service Strong communication and leadership skills Confidence to manage the shop independently when needed Physical fitness and comfort with manual handling A proactive, organised approach and a positive attitude Flexibility to work across a 7-day rota and cover additional shifts when required What We Offer Auto‑enrolment pension scheme with DEBRA contributions Life assurance and 24 / 7 Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) Generous training budget and career development opportunities20 days holiday + bank holidays (pro rata), increasing with service Staff discount and personalised recognition awards Opportunities for apprenticeships and internships Ready to Lead with Purpose?
