Finance Operations Accountant

Finance Operations Accountant role at GPE. The Finance Operations Accountant plays a key role in ensuring control, accuracy, and integrity across the finance operations function. Reporting to the Finance Operations Manager and working closely with the Finance Operations Lead, this role is responsible for analysing and validating large volumes of transactional data, supporting operational decision-making through data insights, and contributing to Finance Operations year-end processes. The role provides essential numerical assurance in an environment without a formal month-end close and underpins the delivery of operational projects and efficiency tracking. The Finance Operations Lead and Accountant jointly manage and resolve day-to-day operational issues, escalating significant risks, trends, or decisions to the Finance Operations Manager as needed. They act as a unified support layer, dealing with the detail and execution, while aligning with the Finance Operations Manager on broader strategy, priorities, and complex challenges. Job Responsibilities Perform control checks, reconciliations, and validations across high-volume finance operations data. Monitor operational finance metrics and KPIs, highlighting exceptions or anomalies. Provide robust data analysis to support finance-led projects and track operational efficiency improvements. Partner with the Finance Operations Lead to maintain strong financial controls across both people and process. Assist with service charge financial reporting and control procedures. Support year-end close activities specific to Finance Operations, including data extraction, reconciliations, and audit support. Maintain clear, auditable documentation of financial processes and data outputs. Collaborate with stakeholders across finance, IT, and operations to enhance reporting and control frameworks. Job Requirements Strong analytical skills and experience working with high-volume transactional data. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with finance or ERP systems. (A test will be given at interview stage) Over 4 years of experience in a finance operations, accounting, or data control role. Understanding of financial controls, reconciliations, and audit standards. Ability to communicate data insights clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders. Methodical, detail-focused, and organized in approach. AAT qualified & part-qualified (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) or Finalist (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent). Experience in property-related finance (desirable).
