Trust Doctor (eqv. to ST3+ level) in Emergency Medicine Posted 21 November 2025 Contract: Fixed term, 12 months Location: The Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel Road, London, E1 1BB Salary: £50,175 to £67,610 per annum Working pattern: Full-time Job Summary We invite applications for a 12‑month fixed‑term post in Emergency Medicine at The Royal London Hospital. The successful candidate will join our team of senior clinical fellows in a well‑supported teaching hospital and major trauma centre. The department sees 180,000 patients annually, including major trauma from North East London and Essex. Main Duties The role includes registrar (ST3+) level duties on a full shift rota, supported by 24/7 consultant presence, senior registrars and a team of junior doctors and practitioners. You will work 20% non‑clinical time dedicated to an area of special interest (e.g., ultrasound, education, quality improvement). Positive track record of fellows moving to national training posts or senior fellowships is common. Person Specification Essential Full registration with the GMC and licence to practice At least 2 years of postgraduate experience in emergency medicine (minimum NHS experience required) MBBS, MBChB or equivalent degree Full MRCEM or equivalent Life support courses such as ALS, ATLS/ETC, APLS 2 years of experience in Emergency Medicine and/or allied specialities, with at least some NHS experience 3 months of experience in Anaesthetics and/or ITU services Motivated, able to work independently, works well in multidisciplinary teams, compassionate, lifelong learning ethos Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; able to produce clear clinical notes and structured coding Experience delivering medical education to colleagues and/or students The post holder will work a clinical shift rota (day, evening, night, weekend) Desirable FRCEM Experience with point‑of‑care ultrasound Experience leading a quality improvement project Other The post holder will work a clinical shift rota designed to meet emergency care demand, including day, evening, night and weekend shifts.
