About the roleBalfour Beatty Power T&D are currently recruiting a Civils Design Engineer (Substations) to join their team in Derby.Role purposeTo work with project team, designers and subcontractors through the design phase to deliver the safe and suitable scope of works in line with the project objectives.Take responsibility for the design delivery and design suitability for works across Power T&D construction projects. Provide advice as to the constructability and sequencing of civil design for Power T&D business principally around Substations but including Overhead Lines and Cabling.What you’ll be doingKey AccountabilitiesTo undertake the design and co-ordination of civil designs required on projects, from the initial feasibility assessment to detail design, installation and final removal.Key ResponsibilitiesReinforced Concrete design and detailing compliant to required Client & national technical standards (BS/Eurocodes/ENA)Highways and access design worksAnalysis of existing foundationsConstruction site layouts and CDM implementationAssist in the management of the tender process, understand and interpret scope of works, provide advice and opinionUndertake check function for design calculations performed by other engineering colleagues.Interacts withPT&D DesignersPT&D Project teamSub-contractorsClientsLocal AuthoritiesOperating EnvironmentTo operate in an open- and even-handed manner with all personnel across the business.
