CASUAL MAINTENANCE PERSON Location: Tops Newport, Newport, Isle Of Wight Pay rate: Up to £11.45 per hour Contract hours: Bank/Flexible About the Role As a Handy Person, you'll work closely with the Regional Maintenance Manager to make sure our sites are well taken care of, prioritising jobs as you go. Ensure that all work being undertaken is done so with as little disruption as possible to children and colleagues. Working with site Managers in respect to how and when job to be carried out and advising the site manager once completed. You'll be there to support the Regional Maintenance Manager with various projects and keep an eye out for repairs and upgrades needed around the nurseries. About the Nursery Tops Newport Nursery is a 92 place Day Nursery and Pre‑School situated in Isle of Wight, Newport. The nursery run several extra‑curricular activities including Before and after school clubs, Forest School, cooking school, Boogie Mites, yoga, tooth brushing, football fun and much more To view our 3D Tour, click here. ✅ What does the role involve? ✅ Carry out general maintenance and repairs across the nursery, including basic carpentry, plumbing, and painting. Ensure outdoor play areas are safe and well‑maintained. Perform regular health and safety checks, reporting any issues to the Nursery Manager. Assist with setting up and taking down equipment for activities and events. Support with light gardening, keeping the nursery grounds neat and tidy. Respond to maintenance requests from staff in a timely manner. Work closely with the Nursery Manager to schedule and prioritize tasks. What are we looking for? Forward thinking Good at building working relationships Good communication & organisational skills Self‑motivated, reliable, and enthusiastic Adaptable Knowledge and experience of maintenance works preferred but not essential. Full clean driving license Relevant qualification within maintenance field desirable but not essential.
