Senior Research Nurse

Job Summary Work with the Research Team to support the safe conduct of research in accordance with the UK Clinical Trials Regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and provide assurance that the rights, safety and well‑being of trial participants are protected. The post holder will be responsible for undertaking, coordinating and driving a team in the recruitment of patients to clinical trials. The post holder will work with the team lead to develop and grow the research portfolio across the designated specialty area. The post will involve managing and coordinating clinical trials collaboratively with the research and multidisciplinary teams. The post holder will be accountable for the assessment, planning, organisation and ongoing care of research participants, whilst maximising compliance with the study/trial protocol. As a specialist role the post holder will provide expert direction, support, supervision and management of staff, assist with training staff to ensure compliance with protocols and practice guidelines, and be key in problem solving and solution driving issues to ensure research is conducted safely, effectively and efficiently by all members of the team. Relevant knowledge will be used to perform research procedures in accordance with study protocols and to extend this experience to support others in the research team and other health‑care professionals where appropriate. Main Duties As a Senior Research Nurse you will be responsible for delivering and clinically managing your own portfolio of academic and commercial research studies, providing expert research support to investigators within Oncology and across other research specialities. You will support the recruitment of patients to clinical trials and be expected to cover colleagues as required. The role will enable you to gain clinical knowledge and skills through working closely with consultants, specialist nurses and multidisciplinary teams.
