Job Summary Based within the Neuro Radiology Department at Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley District General Hospital, join our regional neurosciences centre located in Lancashire and South Cumbria. Recent major service developments include accreditation as a major trauma centre and designation as a tertiary vascular centre. The adult Neurology department is staffed by 12 Consultant neurologists and 2 paediatric neurologists linked to Central Manchester Children’s Hospital. The Neurosurgery department employs 12 Consultant neurosurgeons providing a comprehensive adult neurosurgical service. We are expanding personnel and equipment, including state‑of‑the‑art CT, PET‑CT, a hybrid interventional theatre and a new 3T MRI scanner suite. Main Duties of the Job Provide comprehensive diagnostic neuroradiology service and support for 9 existing neuroradiologists (4 of whom perform neuro‑intervention) and 2 head and neck radiologists. Actively participate in the planning, development and delivery of the neuro‑radiology service for the Directorate and associated network, including ongoing teaching of SPRs who rotate through attachments. Support diagnostic neuroradiology colleagues in both IP and OP MRI/CT reporting; collaborate closely with colleagues in wider neurosciences and radiology departments. Sub‑specialist interest in head & neck radiology desirable; report cross‑sectional head and neck imaging, participate in thyroid and head & neck cancer MDTs, and perform neck ultrasound and FNAs/core biopsies. Interest in PET‑CT supported. Provide support for local and network neuroradiology MDTs. Participate in the neuroradiology on‑call rota with a 1:9 frequency. Experience in head and neck radiology and advanced neuro‑imaging techniques highly desirable. Qualifications Full GMC Registration and License to Practice. MBBS or equivalent. FRCR or equivalent. CCST in Radiology or eligible registration equivalents. CCT within 6 months of interview. Fellowship in Diagnostic Neuroradiology from an accredited training scheme. Desirable Qualifications Sub‑specialist training in head & neck/ENT radiology. Experience of advanced neuro‑imaging techniques. Experience & Skills Wide experience in diagnostic neuroradiology and MDT work in a tertiary neurosciences centre. Experience presenting in neuroradiology MDTs in a tertiary neurosciences centre. Experience presenting in head & neck cancer/thyroid MDTs. Recent experience of on‑call working. Examples of commitment to working as part of a clinical team. Desirable Experience & Skills Ability to perform neck ultrasound and guided interventions. Teaching skills for both medical and paramedical disciplines. Management Evidence of clinical leadership. Evidence of commitment to audit and improving clinical practice/service development. Ability to supervise and direct junior medical staff and other colleagues. Involvement in service development. Desirable Management Management course or certification. Research and Development Evidence of interest in personal development through research and/or publications. Desirable Research and Development Evidence of peer‑reviewed publications. Health Meets professional health requirements in line with GMC standards and Good Medical Practice. Personal Attributes Proven effective communication skills (with examples). Good organisational skills (with examples). Works well within a multidisciplinary environment.
