Consultant Thoracic and Head and Neck The closing date is 19 December 2025 This is an exciting opportunity for suitable candidates to apply for a specialised histopathology Consultant position at Liverpool Clinical Laboratories, which is part of Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation Trust. Liverpool Clinical Laboratories wish to appoint a Consultant in Cellular Pathology with special interests in Thoracic Pathology and a second area, including Head and Neck pathology, open to discussion with the clinical director. We are a well established and successful tertiary referral centre with regional and national repute. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth of our service in a friendly and stimulating environment. The cellular pathology service is the main training centre for cellular pathology trainees and has strong academic links with University of Liverpool. All of this coupled with the recent move to purpose built new laboratory facilities on site and full roll out of digital pathology makes this the perfect time to be joining our dynamic and expanding department. Candidates not on the GMC specialist register requiring CESR are encouraged to apply. A fixed term role may be utilised for CESR candidates. Main duties of the job The appointees will have a significant commitment to the indicated subspecialty where close collaboration exists between clinicians and pathologists. Applicants seeking full time (10 PAs) or less than full time are encouraged to apply. Flexible and home working is supported by teams. The successful applicant will be involved in the whole range of diagnostic work for the respective subspecialty and will also have an opportunity to contribute to teaching and training of junior medical staff and biomedical scientists and to research. Person Specification Qualifications and training MBBS or equivalent Full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or eligible for registration within six months of interview Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview. Applicants that are non‑UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT FRCPath. (or equivalent training or experience) Higher degrees relevant to post. Experience Experience in cellular pathology sufficient to gain the above qualifications Skills and experience that fit in with the Department's current and future requirements Evidence of special expertise or interest in relevant specialties.
