Job Overview We have a new opportunity for a B4 Occupational Therapy assistant (OTA) post within our North Kensington & Chelsea Community Mental Health HUB. This is an excellent position for someone who wishes to gain experience in community mental health. We are looking for a candidate with excellent interpersonal skills, passion, and an ability to demonstrate reliability and commitment to team working. Candidates should demonstrate an understanding of the role of occupational therapy in mental health. Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities The successful candidate will work within the North Kensington and Chelsea Community Mental Health Team, alongside the Occupational Therapists as part of the MDT. They will practice within the Community Mental Health HUB setting with an appropriate level of supervision from a qualified Occupational Therapist. The goal is to maximise service users’ quality of life, social inclusion and independence, by encouraging their skills and promoting autonomy. Key responsibilities include: Planning, implementing, and reviewing a range of activities using individual and group work approaches under the supervision and direction of qualified occupational therapists. Supporting service users to engage in care plans that are developed in partnership with the individual and that reflect their recovery goals. Qualifications Essential criteria: Foundation degree in Health and Social Care or equivalent level 5 qualification 3 A levels or Health and Science T-level, and 5 GCSEs including English and Maths grade 4 or above (A to C) As a level 5 apprenticeship Care Certificate Desirable criteria: Competency based development and other role specific training Nationally available online training Ongoing professional development Experience Essential criteria: Substantial experience in health and care settings, including relevant field of work. Knowledge and Skills Essential criteria: Understanding of the role of Occupational Therapy Ability to provide person‑centred care and support for service users and their families Ability to undertake work guided by procedures and protocols Ability to make judgments and plan activities Demonstrates knowledge of the wider health and social care system Factual and theoretical knowledge of the field of work Ability to work collaboratively and apply principles of team working Maintains role boundaries and confidentiality Ability to contribute to service development Ability to train less experienced staff, including students Ability to respond flexibly Good communication skills: written and verbal IT skills Good organisational skills Attitudes, Aptitudes, and Personal Characteristics Essential criteria: Demonstrates Trust values Understands, promotes, and advocates for equality, diversity and inclusion Demonstrates commitment to personal and professional development Acts as a role model Seniority Level Entry level Employment Type Full‑time Job Function Health Care Provider Hospitals and Health Care Location: London, England, United Kingdom #J-18808-Ljbffr
