Nursing Associate Up to 37.5 hours per week. This role is in the community for housebound individuals. The Nursing Associate will work as part of a team, delivering health and social care that focuses on the holistic needs of patients and service users. The Nursing Associate has a breadth of knowledge across the lifespan and across the fields of nursing, providing holistic and person‑centred care and support for people of all ages and in a variety of settings. The Nursing Associate works independently to provide a high quality of nursing and social care under the leadership of registered nurses and registered practitioners. Nursing Associates have undertaken a broad range of theoretical and practical learning regarding healthcare and wellbeing to Foundation Degree level. Specific tasks and knowledge will vary depending on clinical setting and responsibilities, but the core job description will remain the same for all Nursing Associates. This role may not be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route; please refer to the Direct Gov website for more information with regards to eligibility. Responsibilities Be responsible for the assessment, planning, treatment & evaluation of a group of patients under appropriate delegation from a registered practitioner and in close liaison with patient/carer, within the parameters of practice of the Nursing Associate role. Provide compassionate, holistic evidence‑based practice to patients in line with national and organisational approved policies / procedures & individual care plans. Develop, implement & evaluate individual care plans under the appropriate delegation of a registered professional. Observe any changes in the patient’s condition, manage these changes in line with scope & competence, reporting findings to the most appropriate clinician in a timely manner. In the event of a change in patient status, safely decide whether to proceed with treatment (including medication administration) & seek support from a registered nurse to decide. Undertake delegated clinical skills within the role after training, deeming competent and adhering to standard operating procedures. Administer medications within scope of practice, competency & as delegated by the registered nurse. Report to appropriate registered care professionals information received from the individuals, carers & members of the team. Act as the patient’s advocate and, by providing information & support, facilitate the patient’s own choices in conjunction with carers and other agencies where relevant. Knowledge (Essential) Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code. Understands the requirements for professional revalidation.
