The Glenbourne Unit- Harford Ward Acute Male mental health inpatients is actively recruiting a motivated and professional Band 4 Nursing Associate who is looking to work in our Outstanding rated Unit as awarded by the Care Quality Commission.This post is open to a Nursing Associate who is wanting to work in an outstanding unit and broaden their skills in Mental Health and Learning Disabilities. We offer a fantastic Induction package from Livewell and in-house, which supports your development of core Nursing skills within an acute setting.Harford has 19 male beds supporting patients with a range of diagnosis across the Mental Health and Learning Disability spectrum. Here at the Glenbourne we received an overall rating of outstanding, and we are one of only a few units of its kind to achieve this rating within the UK.The unit was praised in particular for the compassionate care; dignity and respect provided by staff, as per the 2015 mental health inpatient survey.Our environment and organisation is supportive and driven to deliver quality, evidence-based patient care, we have a clear focus on Quality Improvement and Safe wards and strive to achieve a caring recovery focused environment.This role may not be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route.Please note that we may close the job advertisement earlier than the specified deadline.All staff are expected to be able and willing to work across a 7 day service.Main duties of the jobThe Nursing Associate will at all times work within the spirit of the NMCcode of Professional Conduct for trained nursing associates and local policies.You will be supporting the Staff Nurse to take charge regularly of theward.You will need to have a passion for working with people with mental healthneeds and possess excellent communication skills as you will be alongside otherprofessionals, families and carers.Utilise nursingskills to assess, plan and implement and deliver care to patients who are in anacute phase of their illnessOrganise theprovision of care and act as Named Nurse / Associate Nurse for a specifiedgroup of patients.To function as amember of a multi disciplinary team taking appropriate responsibility for theimplementation of decisions made by the teamParticipate intraining programmes for both trained and untrained staffMaintainconfidentiality in respect to the patient at all timesTo activelyparticipate in line management with senior and junior members of staff.To liaiseeffectively with other wards and services. To develop and maintain relationships with providers statutory and non-statutoryTo maintain confidentiality in respect of the patient / client at all times.Communicate clearly with patients, their families and all other mental health professional groups about their health problems and care plan.Actively participate in clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives, eg. clinical audit, essence of care or clinical policy development.Play an active role in PCF multi disciplinary reviews and ward rounds, reporting on the nursing assessment of the patients progress and participating further in multi disciplinary care planning.Ensure that patients are encouraged to play a part in the Care Plan and to sign it; and ensuring they receive a copy of it. This is to promote person centred planningParticipate in the Glenbourne wide response team which responds to any untoward incident and undertake associated training.Provide mentorship for studentsAttend and participate in meetings ie.
