Supply Chain Planning & Inventory (12 Month Placement Scheme) As an industrial placement student at Caterpillar (Peterlee, County Durham, UK), you will be part of an integral team within either the Inventory Control or Material Planning departments. This 12‑month scheme begins 6 July 2026 and offers hands‑on experience in continuous improvement, metrics development, stakeholder communication, root cause analysis, compliance, and purchasing improvement processes. Responsibilities Drive continuous improvement activities in Inventory Control and Material Planning. Develop supply‑chain metrics dashboards. Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure process discipline. Generate presentations supporting continuous‑improvement initiatives across the supply chain. Investigate and implement root‑cause corrective actions. Support compliance processes and perform supply‑chain audits. Lead purchasing improvement processes across the site. Learn and contribute to other supply‑chain disciplines. Qualifications & Requirements Minimum 2:2 honours degree (or equivalent) in Supply Chain, Transportation, Logistics, Business Management with supply‑chain modules. Understanding of lean manufacturing. Self‑motivated, able to operate within a team environment. Strong communication, numerical and analytical skills. Good attention to detail.
