Position Instructor – The City of Edinburgh Council Location Bangholm Outdoor Centre, Edinburgh Hours & Salary Hours: CasualSalary: £20.34 per hour Overview We are seeking applications to join our pool of casual Outdoor Learning Instructors supporting delivery of our outdoor programmes in and around Edinburgh. Our programmes include, but are not limited to, expedition and training provision for the Duke of Edinburgh Award and Epic Adventures; an adventurous activity programme delivered primarily to P5 & P6 pupils at Bonaly Scout Centre and the surrounding area. Responsibilities Support the delivery of outdoor programmes and expeditions across Edinburgh and Scotland. Provide instruction and training for the Duke of Edinburgh Award and Epic Adventures. Lead an adventurous activity programme for primary school pupils. Ensure safety, wellbeing, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Work closely with colleagues to plan, prepare, and evaluate programmes. Qualifications & Requirements Competence in outdoor education, with relevant qualifications (e.g., NGB awards). Experience working with children and/or protected adults. Current membership or willingness to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. Required to provide an Overseas Criminal Record Check if a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years. Good communication and organisational skills.
