Purpose of the roleTo manage and lead the Hardware Engineering Team for:The hardware design and development of electronics hardware in‑line with Flusso’s product roadmap and to meet the requirements of customer design‑in projectsProvide a hands‑on contribution to:Specification of Hardware designs and Software/Firmware interfaces from Systems RequirementsHardware design and developmentDebugging hardware/firmware platformsDevelopment of in‑house test firmware/softwareOccasional international travel (Europe, US and Asia) will be required for working with customers and business partners. Typically trip duration will be a few days to a week.ResponsibilitiesLine management and leadership of the Hardware Engineering GroupManage a team of hardware design engineers and electronics assembly and test techniciansManaging priorities and workloads of reports within the context of company requirementsRegular meetings with reports to ensure communication, performance and mentoring needs are met and perform annual performance reviewsTeam leadership and contribution to the Management TeamResponsibility for the CAD tool flow and management and introduction of appropriate hardware processesHardware DesignEnsuring that specifications for design work is sufficient and approved*Especially interfaces to Mechanical components and FirmwareManage hardware design and development including:Designs are complete, documented, reviewed and manufactured to the applicable Flusso and external standards (e.g. safety, EMC)In‐house sensor test platformsInterface adapters (USB‑I2C, USB‑CAN etc.)Sensor electronics modules (for in‑house use, products and evaluation kits)Mechanical fixtures for Electronic HardwarePCB and PCBA manufacture at service providersManaging and Communicating design statusContributing to Hardware Design work and bring‑up at the system level and providing Firmware support where required.Contributing to the selection and management of external contract manufacturers and transition of designs to volume manufacturing.Manage the electronics engineering labLab facility layout, organisation and capability to meet the business’s needsEquipment maintenance, Health and Safety and waste managementManaging component and material stocksGeneralEnsure compliance to Flusso’s ISO9001 & 14001 certifications and Health and Safety policies and proceduresPeer review of reports and documentationQualifications, knowledge, skills and experienceA bachelor’s degree in an engineering or science subject is a prerequisite.Essential knowledge, skills & experienceBackground as a hardware engineer with experience of digital and analogue design. Competent with schematic capture and layout CAD tools (and their libraries) and liaising with PCB fabrication and assembly houses to ensure successful builds.Line management leadership of a hardware engineering groupDevelopment within a quality management system using appropriate documentation and design/source control toolsProject planning and executionEffective collaboration with other Engineering groups, especially firmware and any mechanical design.Working with customers and effective collaboration with colleagues in Sales and MarketingDesign of high volume, cost‑sensitive products and liaison with contract manufacturersWould be a distinct advantageDeveloping hardware for sensor products and understanding the firmware required to support themFamiliarity with sensor testing methods and the support infrastructure requiredDevelopment of products for Automotive, Medical or safety‑critical applications.Compensation & BenefitsBase salaryBonus (% of base salary) based on company and personal performanceWorkplace pension contribution 3% of full base salary (we can trade with salary level for higher)Bupa Cash Plan Level 3 (employee only)Private Medical insurance with cover for spouse/partner and dependent childrenGroup Life Insurance covers up to 4 x salary25 days holiday plus bank holidays (adjusted for part time roles)Support for relocation (loan discharged over two years service) #J-18808-Ljbffr
