Its the curiosity dedication and innovation that drive our success and help us anticipate the future.Staff Hardware EngineerLocation: Cambridge UK (On-site)Position Overview:We are looking for a skilled and collaborative Staff Hardware Engineer to help lead the development and sustainment of secure high-performance hardware platforms. This role is central to the continued success of the nShield product line and involves technical leadership cross-functional collaboration and mentoring of engineering talent.Youll be part of a dedicated hardware team based in our well-equipped Cambridge office working alongside other hardware engineers in a supportive and technically rigorous environment. This is an on-site role ideal for someone who thrives in hands-on development and close team interaction.Youll take ownership of complex hardware subsystems ensuring they remain secure manufacturable and aligned with evolving product and customer needs. Youll also collaborate with sales teams to respond to customer enquiries and technical requests.We welcome applicants who meet most but not necessarily all of the listed qualifications. If youre excited about the role and believe you can contribute we encourage you to apply.Key Responsibilities:Lead the design and sustaining of secure hardware platforms including high-speed digital systems and embedded architecturesCollaborate with Product Management Software and Security teams to define hardware requirements aligned with business objectivesWork closely with the New Product Introduction (NPI) team to successfully transition designs into volume production and support resolution of RMAs and field issuesCollaborate with Sales and Customer Success teams to respond to customer queries and requests helping to support product sales and gather feedback to improve product design and documentationEnsure hardware designs meet security certification standards and regulatory compliance (e.g. EMC safety)Drive innovation in hardware design prototyping and validation methodologiesSupport the growth and development of junior engineers through mentoring and knowledge sharingChampion continuous improvement in design processes tool usage and product qualityAssist in budgeting and tracking of hardware projects throughout the financial yearRepresent hardware engineering in cross-functional planning and decision-making forumsMaintain strong relationships with stakeholders across engineering product and customer-facing teamsRequired Qualifications:Bachelors degree in Electronic Engineering or a related fieldStrong experience in high-speed digital design embedded systems and secure product developmentDemonstrated ability to lead complex hardware design initiativesExpertise in:32/64-bit processor platformsFPGAs and microcontrollersSignal integrity EMC and safety standardsECAD tools (preferably Altium)Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on practical scalable solutionsExcellent communication and leadership abilitiesWillingness and ability to work on-site in our Cambridge officePreferred Qualifications:Masters degree in Electronic Engineering or a related disciplineExperience with:PythonEmbedded CLinux and U-BootVHDL for FPGA developmentPrior involvement in products requiring formal security accreditation#LI-NR1At Entrust we dont just offer jobs we offer career journeys.
