PR & Communications Manager

Responsibilities Develop and deliver integrated PR and communications strategies to position Belfast as a leading destination for leisure, business and cruise tourism. Support the delivery of Visit Belfast’s Marketing & Communications Plan, ensuring all activities align with strategic priorities and brand values. Plan, implement and evaluate PR campaigns across paid, owned and earned channels, producing post‑campaign reports and performance insights. Lead proactive and reactive media engagement across local, national and international outlets, including crisis communications and 24/7 readiness. Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, influencers and media partners to secure high‑quality coverage. Coordinate press releases, media briefings, interviews and press visits that amplify key campaigns and initiatives. Collaborate with Marketing, Digital, Business Tourism and Visitor Servicing teams to deliver integrated storytelling. Work closely with partners such as Belfast City Council, Tourism NI, Tourism Ireland and Regional Tourism Partners to align messaging and leverage joint opportunities. Manage relationships with external PR agencies, ensuring delivery against agreed briefs, budgets and KPIs. Ensure all communications reflect the Belfast brand essence, tone of voice and visual identity. Produce content for corporate materials, presentations and speechwriting, and develop creative promotional opportunities with partners. Oversee PR budgets, reporting and evaluation frameworks to demonstrate effectiveness and value for money. Recruit, manage and develop team members, supporting professional growth and contributing to the Marketing & Communications management team. Represent Visit Belfast at media events, stakeholder meetings and industry forums, maintaining strong visibility for the organisation. Essential Qualifications Degree level or equivalent qualification. Key Competencies & Experience Minimum 3 years’ experience in PR, communications and campaign management with a track record of delivering KPIs. Strong strategic communications planning and evaluation skills. Proven press and media management experience with strong journalist relationships. Skilled in producing press releases, speeches and senior‑level presentations. Experience managing budgets and resources effectively. Special Aptitudes Creative thinker capable of designing and implementing innovative strategies. Excellent communication, presentation and relationship‑building skills across internal and external stakeholders. Highly organised, deadline‑driven and able to work under pressure with strong leadership qualities. Self‑starter with energy, enthusiasm and a collaborative approach. Proficient in key MS Office applications (Word, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Desirable Qualifications Postgraduate diploma in marketing, communications or public relations. Desirable Experience Knowledge of Belfast as a tourism destination. Experience managing marketing and PR agencies. Demonstrated ability to manage reputation and brand.
