OverviewAssociate or Associate Director, EIA - Aviation (London & South East) at WSP. This role focuses on navigating environmental consent processes for aviation projects, leading EIA work and supporting airport expansions.What you’ll doLead environmental contributions across project designs and assessments for aviation projects, including planning applications, EIA, airspace change proposals, and support for DCO examinations and planning inquiries.Direct and manage multi-disciplinary inputs, ensuring high-quality environmental design, assessment and management throughout the project lifecycle.Coordinate recruitment, bidding, project team management, project delivery, and financial management for aviation-related projects.Build and maintain strong client relationships; identify opportunities to support project strategy, resourcing and delivery.Develop proposals for complex opportunities, deliver strategic bids and participate in framework opportunities and business development activities.Promote innovation through approaches such as Digital EIA, Technical Excellence and Future Ready initiatives.Support and mentor team members; foster an inclusive, positive team environment and uphold health, safety and wellbeing culture.Contribute to the WSP business strategy and deliver multi-disciplinary inputs for aviation projects.What we will be looking forRelevant environmental or planning degree (or equivalent experience), with chartered status or actively working towards chartership.Demonstrable experience delivering Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) for aviation schemes under UK planning regimes (e.g., Town and Country Planning Act, Planning Act 2008). Knowledge of Transport Works Act 1992 is beneficial.Familiarity with aviation and airport-related consenting processes (e.g., Habitats Regulations Assessment, Environmental Permit applications) and how these integrate with planning and EIA for airport expansions, airspace change or infrastructure upgrades.Strong client communication skills; ability to manage stakeholders, regulators and the public, with experience in public consultation and engagement.Understanding of emerging environmental and planning policy trends; excellent written and verbal communication, report writing and quality assurance.Proven people management experience and a track record of developing internal teams.Ability to contribute to strategic planning, win new work through bids and proposals, and enhance reputation in the aviation sector.Why WSPJoin a global engineering and professional services firm with a culture of innovation, integrity and inclusion.
