Principal / Associate Environmental (EIA) Consultant Join WSP as a Principal / Associate Environmental (EIA) Consultant and work with a diverse range of projects across sectors such as onshore and offshore renewables, aviation, nuclear, rail, highways, energy, and commercial/residential. The role is based in any of WSP’s UK offices and involves shaping projects from the concept stage through to hand‑over. Overview WSP is a global engineering and professional services firm that engages with landmark projects. You will contribute to projects that deliver environmental improvements, such as better habitats, cleaner air and water, reduced carbon, and overall environmental gain. Responsibilities Provide environmental advice and support to clients, project managers, and colleagues. Collaborate with environmental specialists, clients and engineering teams to promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement. Lead large, complex projects, overseeing technical, commercial, quality, and health and safety performance. Build relationships with clients and identify opportunities to provide support in areas such as resourcing, programming, strategy development and project delivery. Seeks new client relationships and marketing opportunities, including presenting at conferences. Develop proposals, deliver strategic level bids and framework opportunities, and undertake business development activities. Lead the development of innovative techniques (Digital EIA, Technical Excellence, Future Ready EIA, etc.). Drive performance improvement and career advancement within the team. Promote and build team culture as a go‑to person within the wider team, supporting problem‑solving and goal achievement. Promote an inclusive workplace, demonstrate understanding of health and safety and live WSP’s wellbeing culture. Take actions that contribute to the success of the WSP business strategy and demonstrate self‑motivation towards role and team goals. What We’re Looking For You To Demonstrate A relevant environmental degree level qualification in EIA or similar. Achieved or working towards Chartered Environmental Status and full membership of IEMA or a similar professional body. Excellent experience of EIA and EIA processes, working independently within multi‑disciplinary teams. Sound knowledge and experience of relevant environmental and planning legislation. First‑rate verbal and written communication skills, including meticulous report writing and reviewing. Experience in large‑scale infrastructure projects – for example, rail, highways, energy, commercial or residential. Comprehensive project management skills, including commercial and risk aspects, forecasting and quality assurance.
